Other Uses For Recyclables

Blog

If you are gathering up your recyclables, you want to make sure you pull some aside so you can use them for other purposes around your house. There are many uses for both tin and aluminum cans. Learn about some of the things you can do with these cans by reading this article.

Make a ladybug pencil holder out of a tin can

You can turn a tin can into a decorative ladybug pencil holder in just a few simple steps. The first thing you want to do is to clean and dry the tin can. Then, paint the outside of it red with black spots. Paint a face on the front of the tin can and allow the paint to dry. Once it is dry, you can put your pencils and pens in it. This pencil holder will make a great addition to your desk. Also, keep in mind that you can also create other animals and bugs by painting the can differently.

Make a decorative planter

You can make a decorative planter out of a tin can by punching a few holes in the bottom of the can. Then, paint the outside of the can any way you want. You can paint it one solid color, or even paint flowers on it. Also, paint a small saucer to match the can. Once all the paint has dried, add potting soil and whatever it is you are going to be planting into the planter. Set the planter on the saucer, so the water will drain out the holes and onto the saucer. Add the appropriate amount of water and set it where it will get the proper amount of sunlight.

Make a knock-down game out of aluminum cans

You can make a fun knock-down style game with 10 aluminum cans. The first thing you want to do is to fill each can with sand. Then, use duct tape to completely tape the tops of the cans so no sand can come out. Then, paint the outsides of the cans, if you want. If you have painted them, wait for the paint to dry all the way. Once it is dry, you can stack the cans with 4 on the bottom, then 3, followed by two and a final one on top. Now, you can use a softball to try to knock the cans down. The person who knocks down the most wins that round.

Once you have picked out all the recyclables you can use, then you can take the rest of them down to the nearest recycling center. Click this link to learn more about your recycling options.

Talking About Recycling

Hi everyone, my name is Makana. Welcome to my site about recycling. I am excited to talk to you about all of the benefits of recycling. Throwing garbage in the trash bin only serves to fill up landfills, which has a negative impact on the planet. With recycling, you can rest assured that the majority of the waste goes toward making new packaging and products. The recycled materials live on and can even be processed another time. I will explore recycling rules and techniques in detail on this site. Please feel free to come back all of the time to learn new things.
